MARGHERITA TISATO started studying dance in Italy, where she was born, at the age of 8. Her background is in Humphrey-Limon and classical techniques paired with a deep work rooted in Maria Fux's dance-therapy technique. Margherita taught dance classes to children and adults, including diversely able individuals, psychiatric patients and court involved population from 2001 through 2006. In New York since 2006, she dances with Sokolow Theater/Dance Ensemble, Dances by Isadora, Catherine Gallant dances et al. and has performed in a variety of venues and festivals. She started studying with Vangeline of Vangeline Theater in 2007, becoming a principal dancer with the Vangeline Theater in 2008 until 2017, and studied with other prominent Butoh Masters, such as Yumiko Yoshioka, Atsushi Takenuchi, Mari Osanai, Katsura Kan, Diego Pinon and the Tamanos, making Butoh an integral part of her artistic and spiritual practice. She lives in New York, teaching yoga and mindful movement in studios, jails and substance use recovery facilities and coaching individuals to find embodiment.
This unique training is an invaluable tool for dancers, actors, adult beginners, encouraging participants to open up and expand physically and energetically. This workshop creates a gentle and supportive environment to start an individual and collective process of investigation through creative movement.
Our classes are open level and beginners are welcome.
