Yael Gaathon is an Israeli – Danish actress and butoh dancer.

She completed her acting studies in Israel in ’93, after which she joined the internationally acclaimed Itim Theater Ensemble. During her work with the Ensemble Yael was introduced to butoh and received regular butoh training. In 2002 Yael moved to Denmark, where she established her comapany Blue Cliff and began to choreograph and direct solo and group pieces. Throughout the years she has been giving butoh workshops, as well as training and teaching actors and dancers in film, the state theater schools in Denmark, private theater schools, the Danish Actors Association, and in various dance and theater training programs.

Yael is currently based in Aarhus, Denmark.

Vangeline is an award-winning dancer, and choreographer specializing in the Japanese avant-garde movement form, Butoh. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Vangeline Theater Inc, and the New York Butoh Institute. Vangeline Theater is an all-female dance company that is committed to honoring the legacy of the art form while moving butoh forward in the 21st century. Vangeline's work has been heralded in publications such as the New York Times (“captivating”), Los Angeles Times, (“moves with the clockwork deliberation of a practiced Japanese Butoh artist”)  and LA Weekly to name a few. Time OUT Chicago named Vangeline's, "one of the best Dance Visits of 2011."  More recently her 4-star performance of BUTOH BEEETHOVEN received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015 and was dubbed ‘Exquisite…a resplendent piece of performance theatre; a true tour de force, literally a feat of strength, within and without.”

Vangeline is the winner of the 2015 Gibney Dance's Beth Silverman-Yam Social Action Award recognizing excellence in the field of Community Action. Vangeline’s Butoh work has been commissioned by Atlantic Records’ Grammy award-winning artist SKRILLEX, and is featured in a major motion picture “The Letter” with James Franco and Winona Ryder. She was recently featured on CNN’s Great Big Story.
